Itinerary

PACKAGE DETAILS | URUBAMBA RIVER RAFTING

DETAILED ITINERARY:

The Urubamba river runs from the high Andean mountain range down through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, past Machu Picchu, and further down into the jungle.

The Urubamba is divided into upper Urubamba and lower Urubamba, the dividing feature is the Pongo de Martinique, a whitewater canyon that opens into the Amazon plain.

The Urubamba River has some excellent spots for rafting, depending on the section of the river being done and the time of the year. One of our most popular rafting sections during the season is the “Chuquicahuna- (CHUQUI)” on the upper Urubamba. There are good class III rapids and the water is not polluted like it, unfortunately, is in the Sacred Valley. This section of rapids is perfect for one day tours, with nice class II, III, and III+ rapids. Along the route are excellent scenic riverside views with big eucalyptus trees and beautiful flowers.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

We will pick you up at your hotel in the morning. After a 1.5 hour drive, we will arrive at the put -in at the shores of the upper Urubamba-River, in ” CUSIPATA RIVER CAMP.” Our professional rafting guides will give you a safety talk and provide you with all the proper equipment for rafting. We will then begin the rafting adventure and be in the river for approximately 2.5 hours. In this time we will run class II and III rapids. During the rainy season, December to early March, the rapids can even get to be class IV and IV+.

Finally, we will arrive at the take-out at “CUSIPATA RIVER CAMP”, where a hot sauna and hot showers will be waiting. Here we will also enjoy a full-course lunch. If you want even more adventure in your day, you can ZIP-LINE over 4 cables across the river. We will return to Cusco around 5 in the afternoon. Later in the evening, you can view the pictures from your trip at our office.
